the coloring of the layers can be misleading. Where the lizard dies is brownish which I get it changes the soil coloring over time, but students can wonder why the lizard is not found on "layer 3" but on layer 1?

This is such a great point! I changed the layers to match what the ground soil was like in the past, so students can see that the lizard lived in layer 1, died in layer 1, and is not fossilized in layer 1. Thanks for this feedback!
